Online Training gives you the background information you need to dive safely and allows you to study at your own pace through an interactive computer-based program.

To enroll in a Open Water Diver Course or Junior Open Water Diver Course

  • You must be 10 years old or older.

  • You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.

  • No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

What you will learn in Open Water Diver Course?

 

COURSE CONTENTS :

In general, an Open Water Diver course consists of 3 parts : 
Academics, Pool Training and Open Water Sessions.

 

The course takes 3 to 4 days and includes 1 or 2 days of Academics and pool training as well as 2 days training in the open water with 4 training dives.

ACADEMICS :

Training Materials and Online Training program are designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online when you sign up for Online Training program, and then attend review sessions with our Dive Center.

POOL TRAINING :

For your pool and open water training your instructor will fit you to your scuba equipment so you will become comfortable in your “second skin”.

 

  • Set up diving equipment.

Your instructor will explain and slowly demonstrate how to set up and use diving equipment.

 

  • In Swimming Pool

Your instructor will explain and slowly demonstrate each and every skill for you and give you enough time to practice.  Also check if you are able to swim and feel comfortable in the water to prepare for safe diving with buddy system.

National Marine Park Fee :

The National Marine Park Fee will be added to your bill and is payable on or before the day of the trip. If your trips are not within the Koh Lanta National Marine Park then you do not need to pay the Fee.

Arrival Day : Sign up, Try diving equipment at Go Dive Lanta's Dive Shop 1 day before start course.

 

1st Training Day at Swimming Pool or Beach : 

08:00 - 08:45 AM. Pick up from your Hotels & Resorts

09:00 AM Knowledge development (Theory) Reviewing knowledge review with your instructor.

10:00 AM - 03:00 PM Confined Water 5 Module.

 

If you pass all skills then next day going to dive on the boat.

 

2nd Training Day on the Big Boat : Local Day Trip

06:45 - 07:45 AM. Pick up from your Hotels & Resorts

08:00 AM. Departure from Go Dive Lanta Jetty,

08:15 AM. Welcome on board, Boat briefing

08:30 AM. Breakfast

09:00 AM. Dive Briefing

10:00 AM. Dive 1st (Open Water Dive 1 Maximum depth 12 meters.)

11:00 AM. Tea & Coffee, Tropical Fruit, Dive Briefing

12:15 AM. Dive 2nd (Open Water Dive 2 Maximum depth 12meters.)

Knowledge Development & Equipment

 

OPEN WATER SESSIONS :

During your course you will participate in 4 open water training dives which will last 40-60 minutes each. Two of those will take you to a maximum depth of 12 meters / 40 feet and the other two dives are limited to 18 meters / 60 feet.

 

During the dives you will apply the skills you have already mastered in the swimming pool to open water conditions, combined with a guided tour to explore Koh Lanta's tropical reefs. Your instructor will show you a huge variety of tropical coral and fish. Clown fish, barracudas, lion fish, trumpet fish, groupers and many other marine creatures will greet you in their world.

 

In addition to that you will learn about compass handling both at the surface and under water. Don't worry, your instructor will explain how to handle the compass.
 

After successful completion of your open water training dives you will become a Certified Diver. The SSI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless.

 

SAFETY & FUN :

Your experienced buddy and instructor understands your problems as a beginner and will be there  to assist you whilst under water.
