The Instructor Evaluation (IE)

Instructor Training Course (ITC) gives you the opportunity to practice, practice and practice. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Better you make them here and learn from them so they don’t happen on a real course. 

 

The Instructor Training Course (ITC) isn’t so much a pass / fail course but more a preparation for the Instructor Evaluation or Instructor Examination (IE) and the real job of a dive instructor. However, your Instructor Trainer will decide if you are ready for the final step, the IE. If not, he might advise you to gain more experience working as an assistant with other instructors before you do the IE. Don’t be afraid, this doesn’t happen often. But we want to make sure that only good, safe, knowledgeable and motivated people become an SSI Open Water Instructor.

 

Instructor Evaluation (IE) Schdule 2017

                                        

  • October                          Phuket                     5th-6th / 12th-13th

  • November                      Ko Phi Phi               8th - 9th

  • December                      Ko Lanta

 

 

INSTRUCTOR EVALUATION (IE)

The IE (Dive instructor Examination) takes two full days and here you will be tested by an external SSI Instructor Certifier.

 

Knowledge Development (Theory)

 

Before book Instructor Evaluation (IE)

To enroll in a Instructor Evaluation (IE) Program

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Have logged at least 100 open water dives totaling 65 hours or more.

  • Complete and pass all requirements and evaluations listed in the Instructor Training Course Manual.

  • Complete the water skills evaluation as outlined in the Instructor Training Course Manual.

  • Complete the four (4) Instructor Training Course exams with a passing score of 90% on each.

If you taking Instructor Evaluation course you will need to stay on Koh Lanta / Koh Phi Phi / Phuket depend on the IE Schedule at least 4 days 3 nights. Please find your accommodation on Koh Lanta here.

Next Step >>

After your Open Water Instructor, you can start working towards Specialty Instructor. You can qualify by attending Specialty Instructor Seminars or co-teaching Specialty Programs with a qualified instructor. If you already hold Specialties as a Training Specialist, they will be automatically upgraded to Specialty Instructor.
