The Waves, Tides & Currents Course

"Have you ever dreamed of gliding with the current and watching sharks or dolphins at the same time?"

Adequate training in current diving is the key to this kind of experience and therefore WAVES, TIDES & CURRENTS is a must for any ambitious diver.

Anybody who wants to dive on vacation at the top spots should understand and know how to handle water movements. This can be the waves when entering from shore, or the rip current in a channel next to an island, or just the current on a dive.

There are many things to learn about currents such as:

If the current is blowing against the diver, how much current can a diver deal with? How does the diver move effectively in the current? How can somebody determine the strength of a current and plan the dive accordingly? WAVES, TIDES & CURRENTS can help you answer all of these questions. It is taught in conjunction with a minimum of 2 open water dives.

 

 

We offer FREE Online Training - with Digital Learning, you can study at your convenience anytime or anywhere. With the advancement of digital learning, and you can start learning right away.

 

Online Training gives you the background information you need to dive safely and allows you to study at your own pace through an interactive computer-based program.

COURSE CONTENTS :

The course takes 1 day training in the open water with 2 training dives.

 

  • Equipment for Waves, Tides and Currents

  • Procedures for Shore Dives

  • Procedures for Boat Dives

 

The primary goal of any SSI Specialty course is to teach you important skills in a fun environment. All courses are taught using home study, short academic sessions, and in-water training.

ACADEMICS :

Training Materials and Online Training program are designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online when you sign up for Online Training program, and then attend review sessions with our Dive Center.

National Marine Park Fee :

The National Marine Park Fee will be added to your bill and is payable on or before the day of the trip. If your trips are not within the National Marine Park then you do not need to pay the Fee.

OPEN WATER SESSIONS :

During your course you will participate in 2 open water training dives which will last 40-60 minutes each. You will then be able to apply knowledge, combined with a guided tour to explore Koh Lanta's tropical reefs. Our instructor will show you a huge variety of tropical coral and fish. Clown fish, barracudas, lion fish, trumpet fish, groupers and many other marine creatures will greet you in their world.

 

SAFETY & FUN :

Your experienced buddy and instructor understands your problems as a beginner and will be there  to assist you whilst under water.
