The Dive Instructor Course (ITC)

The Open Water Instructor´s mission is to inspire and influence beginners to grow in their diving experiences with the goal of making them committed divers.

 

The goal of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) is to increase your retail business and industry knowledge, expand your teaching skills and add professional presentation/sales experience through modern workshops and practical applications. It is an opportunity to learn how to deliver “The Ultimate Dive Experience.”

 

The SSI Instructor Training Course is a unique program that has stood the test of time. In order to stay competitive in today’s diving industry, the program has been updated to ensure that all Dive Professionals are equipped with the latest retail business training and industry knowledge. A newly certified SSI Open Water Instructor can be absolutely sure to have all necessary skills and knowledge to work successfully.

 

OPEN WATER INSTRUCTOR (OWI)

After achieving the Dive Control Specialist rating, you enroll in the Instructor Training Course. On successful completion you can attend an Instructor Evaluation. Passing earns you the Open Water Instructor. You can teach and issue certifications for Open Water Diver, Advanced Adventurer and other programs.

Before book Dive Instructor Course (ITC)

To enroll in a Dive Instructor Course

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Must have logged no less than 75 open water dives totaling 50 hours or more.

  • Must hold the Dive Control Specialist rating or an equivalent rating from a recognized agency.

  • That qualifying certifications from other diver training organization may apply – ask our Instructor Trainer.

 

Prior to training, Instructor candidates must have completed an Instructor Training Record including:

  • Statement of Understanding

  • Professional Training Assumption of Risk and Liability Release

  • SSI Dive Professional Agreement

 

All candidates participating in professional level training must have digital copies of the following documents uploaded into ODiN before the nal certi cation(s) can be issued:

  • RSTC Medical Statement signed by a physician within one (1) year

  • Proof of CPR training within two (2) years

  • Proof of First Aid training within two (2) years

  • Proof of Oxygen First Aid training within (2) years

What you will learn in Instructor Training Course?

 

Knowledge Development (Theory)

 

COURSE CONTENTS :

The Instructor Training Course (2-3 Dives/day) takes 6 -8 days 
training.

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPLETION :
  • Have logged at least 100 open water dives totaling 65 hours or more.

  • Complete and pass all requirements and evaluations listed in the Instructor Training Course Manual.

  • Complete the water skills evaluation as outlined in the Instructor Training Course Manual.

  • Complete the four (4) Instructor Training Course exams with a passing score of 90% on each.

 

Knowledge Development (Theory)

 

ACADEMICS :

Training Materials and Online Training program are designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. You can complete the academics online when you sign up for Online Training program, and then attend review sessions with our Dive Center.

 

POOL TRAINING :

In the relaxed and stress free environment of our swimming pool you will practice all skill exercises.

 

OPEN WATER SESSIONS :

During your course you will participate in training dives which will last 40-60 minutes each.

you will apply the skills, combined with a guided tour to explore Koh Lanta's tropical reefs. Your instructor will show you a huge variety of tropical coral and fish. Clown fish, barracudas, lion fish, trumpet fish, groupers and many other marine creatures will greet you in their world.

 

SAFETY & FUN :

Your experienced buddy and instructor understands your problems as a beginner and will be there  to assist you whilst under water.

National Marine Park Fee :

The National Marine Park Fee will be added to your bill and is payable on or before the day of the trip. If your trips are not within the National Marine Park then you do not need to pay the Fee.

Next Step >>

After your Open Water Instructor, you can start working towards Specialty Instructor. You can qualify by attending Specialty Instructor Seminars or co-teaching Specialty Programs with a qualified instructor. If you already hold Specialties as a Training Specialist, they will be automatically upgraded to Specialty Instructor / React Right Instructor Course
